Overview
Wow, what a great follow up to Galaxian! Galaga is arguably the best space shooter game of the 80s.
You control the ship at the bottom of the screen, and you have to defeat swarm after swarm of enemies. If you allow your ship to be captured, you can release it and then you'll have two guns to fight with. Featuring bonus rounds, and variations in each wave, Galaga is still a favorite today.
Coin-Op Details
Galaga is definitely one of the most collected games today, up there with Ms. Pac-Man, Tempest, and Dragon's Lair. Since Galaga can still earn its keep in the arcades, they are worth just as much to the arcade operators as they are to the collector. As such, Galaga machines command a high price.
In 2000, Namco released an updated combo game featuring Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga. You could also play "Pac-Man" by entering a special code.
