Atari Audio Regulator II upgrade
Author
James Bright
Article
Atari's Audio Regulator II board uses +SENSE and -SENSE to help regulate voltage on the power supply. Unfortunately, bad connections can sometimes cause invalid return values and affect voltage reading. (Essentially this was a good idea on paper, but bad in practice.) To avoid burning out the regulator board -- usually R29 -- make the following modifications:
Tie +SENSE to +5V
Tie -SENSE to ground
You can do this by making the following jumper connections on J7:
Tie J7-3 to J7-5 / J7-5 (+5)
Tie J7-2 to J7-1 / J7-4 (+5V return aka ground)
Double check with your Audio Regulator schematics.
